about me

Hello! I’m Cyrus Norcross, an award-winning photojournalist from the Navajo Nation. With a deep passion for storytelling, I focus on amplifying the voices and stories of Indigenous people through my evocative photography and journalism.

My journey into this field was sparked at the Standing Rock protest in 2016, where I found my true calling in documenting the critical issues facing communities.

I’m honored to have had my work featured in renowned publications such as Navajo Times, Native News Online, Indian Country Today, SOFREP, and Source NM. My investigative work, particularly on the missing and murdered Indigenous people in the Navajo Nation, has been recognized by the Indigenous Journalism Association and Military Veterans in Journalism.

Before embarking on my journalism career, I served as an Army Ranger in the 1st Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. My military experience, including my time as a contractor training the 39th Squadron of the Royal Air Force, has profoundly shaped my perspective on global security and philosophy.

I’m also the host of "Warriors at Heart," a podcast dedicated to sharing the remarkable stories of Native American Veterans. Additionally, I’m a contributing author to the book "Violence of Action: The Untold Stories of the 75th Ranger Regiment in the War on Terror."
